The iPhone represents a paradigm shift in computing. \u00a0It’s presence in the market represents the first time consumers have access to technology that up to now has only been baking in the lab: \u00a0multi-touch. \u00a0Check out Jeff Han’s company: Perceptive Pixel<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0Jeff is a hardware systems researcher at NYU that is exploring the possibilities with multi-touch in a very big way. \u00a0His global visibility came when his TED talk<\/a>, given back in 2006 showing him play with a large flat panel system was posted. \u00a0I watch Jeff’s presentation on TED as well as the demo video on his website and realize that we are really only 5 years away from saying goodbye to the computer as we know it. \u00a0Imagine walking into your office and your entire desktop — minus the heat sensitive pad for your coffee — is your computer. \u00a0Virtual documents could exist on your virtual desktop and we will begin to truly realize the paperless office in a way no one thought possible. \u00a0Excuse me though, I digress. \u00a0Bringing this technology to us today, not tomorrow, but now, albeit in a smaller form-factor. . . is the iPhone. \u00a0The iPhone is the technology primer for a shift in not just mobile devices, but computing as a whole. \u00a0Apple also did some great supply chain slight-of-hand with it’s latest deployment of the iPhone 2.0. \u00a0With the application center as well as the licensing of Activesync from Microsoft, corporate customers as well as individual software vendors can develop solutions that target a platform with high fidelity video, gps locational information, and carries all the security needed to support remote and mobile user community. \u00a0The iPhone is not just a hip new product from a compelling product design firm, it’s the future, only it’s today. \u00a0With the iPhone, today Apple has managed to make our future multi-touchable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
